The horse I ride and lease, supposedly destroys all blankets- it was recommended to get him 1200 denier and up-I didn't receive this advice until I'd already bought the blanket (it's only 600 denier), but he's doing well with this one. There are some rips around the butt area as he gets bitten a lot, but all the horses he's out in the pasture with have the same fate befall their blankets. I use this year round as he doesn't like heavy blankets but when it gets very chilly I throw a fleece cooler on underneath and that works perfectly. It is interesting, so many websites say size up if they fall between sizes but I found a site that said size down and i did. he's 76 and I got him 75. It fits him great.*I have to clarify, this one is in fact the 1200 denier. I got mixed up looking at other ones online. I am ordering another one today since it's on sale. The other thing like about this sheet is you can clip in extra warm liners and it's even warmer than a heavier gram coat. -Quit using fleece underneath as they moved all over.
